The Telemetry Interface System was originally developed by ICS for Raytheon Aircraft Corporation and for Fairchild Dornier. These aircraft manufacturers were among the first to agree to us the Honeywell PRIMUS EPIC™ Avionics in their aircraft. Since the PRIMUS EPIC™ avionics suite was based on a proprietary Honywell® communications bus called ASCB Version D, a need arose to interface existing PCM based telemetry and acquisition equipment to the ASCB D bus. This is not a trivial task, and while most telemetry system builders wished to build ASCB D interface cards for their acquisition systems, this was simply not feasible in the limited space available on their PWBs. ICS was called to fill the requirement. We built a stand alone ASCB Version D interface system that received ASCB D communications, recorded it to tape or removable hard disk and output the data to our Adaptable Parallel Interface Card (APIC). The APIC card in turn makes the decoded ASCB parameters available in engineering units to the legacy telemetry and acquisition equipment. Interfaces to ACRA controls KAM 500, Aydin Vector, L3, and Gulfstream Telemetry and Acquisition systems were eventually created. In each case, the systems met individual requirements for these flight test aircraft. The ICS TIS systems have flown or are flying on Raytheon, Dornier, Gulfstream, EMBRAER, and Cessna aircraft.
