The ASTI was designed specifically to provide a versatile data acquisition platform that has the capability of handling a multitude of mixed I/O types while also providing data recording, data display, powerful data visualization, as well as high speed test system and simulator interfaces to the acquired data. The ASTI system is a highly configurable platform and is the Intelligence at the heart of Integration Test Facilities, Engineering Simulators, and Automated Test Systems. Each application of the ASTI is usually unique. The ASTI can be used in variations ranging from one or two I/O types on a few channels, to nearly 100 I/O types on thousands of channels. Scalability and Flexibility are key words when talking about this system. Very High Speed I/O such as high speed data busses are handled by plug in cards to the host controller platform. The host controller is generally a passive backplane industrial PC, VME, or Compact PCI chassis that hosts the higher speed I/O. When sample rates are below 1 KHz on parameters, I/O to the ASTI host is off loaded to Stock Flight Systems Network Extended Control System (NECS) systems.
