RM17 Portable TIU
The Portable TIU was designed and built specifically for portability. While these units are larger and heavier than a laptop, they do offer 5-6 available PCI slots that allow the use of single or dual PCI-NICs and/or ARINC 429 cards. The units come in several different case versions, but generally these have 15"-17" LCD displays and weigh less than 25 LBS.
TIU functionality can include 1 or 2 PCI-NICs for monitoring of data on up to 4 ASCB D buses and for transmitting (optionally, transmitting can be disabled in hardware for flight safety) on both sides of the ASCB D buses in an aircraft installation or test bench. Additionally, ARINC 429 is available as well.
The unit includes standard dual LAN interfaces: (1) 10/100 (1) 10/100/1000, one for the PRIMUS EPIC LAN in the aircraft or test bench, and one for connection to a corporate LAN in ground based applications. Also included standard is 3.5" Floppy Drive, 36GB 10K RPM U160 SCSI Hard Disk, 48X or faster CD-ROM drive, 2 RS-232 ports, 1 Printer Port, mouse and keyboard. Optionally, the Desktop TIU can be fitted with removable Hard Disks for data storage. These are available in 36GB, and 73GB sizes.
